Frequently asked questions
FUE or Follicular Unit Extraction, is a minimally invasive hair transplantation technique in which follicular unit grafts (hair follicles) are individually removed from the patient's donor area using a circular cutting instrument and then individually transplanted to the recipient (thinning) area where hair no longer grows. When extracted properly in an intentionally randomized fashion, these circular extraction sites heal rapidly and leave very small, imperceptible white dots in the donor hair area easily camouflaged by the remaining hair. These tiny extraction sites are difficult to see and would require a closeup inspection or a trained eye to identify them at all.
Our patients believe that it is less annoying than the intervention of a dentist. Most of them enjoy a movie during the procedure or just go to sleep.
The surgery is performed with local anesthesia injected with very fine needles where the patient only feels mildly discomfort at the beginning. Most patients have reported not to have felt pain whatsoever.
Dr Camacho is experienced both on FUE and FUT Surgeries. The more common technique we use is FUE using the Mamba Trivellini motorized device for extraction and Lyon implanter pens for the implantation part (Similar to DHI) In many cases Dr Camacho will make pre made incisions before implantation, it depends on how elastic is the scalp and other factors Dr Camacho will take into account on site.
Mamba Trivellini is a revolutionary motorized extraction device that is used in our clinic to harvest the hairs.
This device is unique by providing multiple programing functions that allows customization of the extraction to any given Hair/Skin characteristics.
Besides the standard rotation that is made in each punch it also provides a suction system to allow a smoother dissection of the grafts to minimize trauma.
Lastly it has an automatic functions that allows the operator to start and finish punch action efficiently without the use of a foot pedal
As a general rule we perform 1 surgery per day. It allows us an efficient surgery with focus on each given patient and minimizes Doctor's fatigue.
In some cases we will allow a second surgery only if it is a small case that requires low amount of grafts.
We are NOT one of those technician based clinics who do 10-15 surgeries a day. The surgery will always be performed by a medical doctor in all stages. The technicians we use are amazing and only for assisting purposes.
With respect to our AMAZING And experienced technicians, the surgical parts of the hair transplant including the extraction is performed ALWAYS by a medical surgeon. The technicians are there for assisting purposes and are limited in their roles to perform duties surrounding the surgery. Some of the duties of our technicians : - Surgery prep: Hair shaving, pre op photos, vitals, blood test, local anesthesia. - Sorting and counting the Follicular units. - Loading the implanter pens and passing them to the doctors. - Post surgery care such as applying cream, patching etc.
A person’s hair transplant will be noticeable during the first few weeks if there is no previous hair to hide the temporal scab. Once the transplanted hair grows, the result should look natural in that no one can notice even under close examination.
A big percentage of those patients who already have undergone the surgery look natural. However, this will entirely depend on how qualified the specialist you have chosen is. So it is important to get the procedure done by a highly qualified professional.
The risks that have been reported from a hair transplant process are quite uncommon. In rare cases infection may acure after surgery, mostly from patinet neglegnece to comply with the doctor's after care instructions. Even if an infection occurs, it is easy to cure with common antibiotics that may be prescribed by us or by any physician
Nevertheless, in any occasion of a problem, you can reach our team 24/7 via mobile or e-mail
It is forbidden to drink one week before the operation.
it is better to avoid the consumption or use of tobacco products such as cigarettes, cigars, e-cigarettes etc. Smoking causes constriction on your vessels and this may affect your hair growth. We advise you to stop smoking 24 hours prior to the operations and 1 week after the operation.
Ttechnically there are no age limitations to perform a hair transplant surgery. It can range between 21 to 80. However , when it comes to patients under the age of 25 it is important to examine how progressed is the hair loss, wheter it has been stabilized and if any preventative meds are consumed.
A Young patient is more likely to be in earlier stages of hair loss so it is important to factor in potential future hair loss before planning a hair transplant. Remember - The hair Transplant will solve only the current hair loss situation and not future hair loss of the hairs one current has.
Generally it is advised for younger patients to take the medication rout to stabilize hair loss before considering a hair transplant as the donor area is not unlimited and is more likely to miniaturze before age 25.
If a young patient opts for a hair transplant it is important to be conservative with the hairline design and amount of grafts to use.
No, The hairs are taken from the back and sides of the scalp which are resistant to the DHT hormone that causes hair loss.
Once it grows back the patient should not lose the transplanted hairs again.
Some of the reasons that may cause the hairs loss are chronic medical conditions, cancer therapies, thyroid, higher than average testosterone levels or meds that cause hair loss as a side effect.
A Rapid HIV and HEP C-D test will be conducted at the clinic before surgery however it is recommended to perform an HIV and HEP C-D test at your local healthcare provider no more than 1 month before surgery to avoid last minute cancelation of surgery due to positive result. Please submit the negative results with your agent.
The hair transplant will solve or improve only the current hair loss situation. It cannot prevent future hair loss of native hairs that were still there before surgery. As long as one wants to keep the native hairs and stabilize hair loss it is recommended to consume preventative meds such as Finasteride after consulting with a family doctor or a trichologist. If for some reasons one cannot take preventative meds, it is recommended to be conservative with donor hair use and save some reserve for another surgery if the hair loss will progress. In some cases if the hair loss is still in early stages, it is not recommended to go through a hair transplant without consuming any preventative meds.
